A Note from our Director, Kaela Vines

Colonial Heights United Methodist Preschool is a Christian, state licensed, child
care/preschool center based out of Colonial Heights United Methodist Church. We are proud to be a Tennessee recognized 3 Star-Quality Program. We offer year-round care for children six weeks of age up to five years of age. Our hours of operation are Monday-Friday 7:15am-5:30pm.

We believe that early childhood is the most crucial time in a child's life because it is
when children learn the most critical social and emotional skills that lay the groundwork for their future. Early childhood is when children first learn how to interact with others as well as begin to develop interests that will stay with them throughout their lives. Children 3-5 years old are given a weekly opportunity to attend chapel where they are taught the gospel of Jesus Christ and other Christian morals and values.

We selectively hire qualified, experienced educators with the children in our care in
mind. Our educators provide developmentally appropriate learning opportunities for play-based discovery to encourage physical and cognitive growth and development. All of our educators are background checked and equipped with the training necessary to keep children in our care safe.

Our infant caregivers implement safe sleep practices by following the ABC’s of Safe Sleep. Each member of our teaching team maintains up-to-date certifications in adult and infant CPR/First Aid. In each of our twelve classrooms there are at least two loving teachers who are passionate about early childhood education.

Our preschool program is comprised of two classrooms of four- and five-year-old children who will be graduating from C.H.U.M.P.S. and moving on to kindergarten the following school year. In these classes the primary focus is on kindergarten readiness. We partner with families to meet the needs of their children. Our teachers maintain an open line of communication with families and parent-teacher conferences are always available upon request.

We hope that you choose our center to foster your child’s growth and development. Our preschool has been a ministry to our community since 1968 and we look forward to serving our community for many more years to come. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call our office at (423) 239-7071 or email us at

Many blessings to you and yours,
Kaela Vines – C.H.U.M.P.S. Director
