Church in a Pandemic

What Should I Expect at CHUMC during a Pandemic?

Sunday Worship Services

Worship provides an opportinity to sing, read scripture, pray, and hear an inspiring sermon. While we do not require reservations, we do ask that you please wear a mask, social distance and continue to limit congregational singing to only those who are leading worship. Our two services follow the same sermon led by Pastor Chris Brown.

We continue to offer weekly online worship that is pre-recorded and tailored to the viewer at home. The service premiers each week with a live, fellowship chat at 11 am accessible on our YouTube Page

Our 9 am in-person service in the Ministry Center is a a relaxed atmosphere where the music is modern and led by a band.  Chairs are spread out in clusters so families can sit together.

The 11 am in-person  service in our Sanctuary has a more traditional feel with liturgy and music that is complete with our chancel choir, handbell choir and organ.

The 6 pm Chapel Service has not been meeting since the beginning of the pandemic

Children's Church for kindergarten through 5th grade takes place during both worship services and is led by our Children's Coordinator, Crystal Rupe.  Children may be dropped off/signed in by their parents before or during the worship sevice in the children's wing. A nursery is provided for infants and toddlers led by Rachel Buckles. Children's Sunday School is offered from 10:00-10:45 am in the Children's Wing. Our nursery and children's wing is frequently cleaned, safe and staffed by workers who have been screened and trained.

There's no set way to dress at CHUMC.  People wear whatever is comfortable for them.  On any given Sunday you'll see anything from shorts, T-shirts and jeans to suits in both services.  Come as you are!  Whatever you choose to wear... you're welcome here!

Due to the ongoing pandemic, the serving of coffee and refreshments is currently suspended.
